PF clinics continue continue selling ARVs

PF Cadres employed as maids at Kamwala Clinic in Lusaka are charging patients to access free antiretroviral drugs.

The drugs are given to government clinics by donors.

Patients are charging between 250 kwacha and 300 kwacha for each 30 days dose of the life serving drug.

Kennedy Malama former Lusaka Province medical officer who allowed this illegality was however promoted to become Ministry of Health Spokesperson instead of being dismissed.

Zambia has remained among the highest HIV prevalence rated countries with 13.3 percent of people between the ages of 15 and 40 years living with the virus.
