A PF councilor of Makululu ward in Kabwe risks being arrested after he abducted and beat up his former employee accusing him of stealing a tent and K10,000 cash, but police are under pressure from PF officials to drop the charges.
Victor Kolala was picked last week by Kasanda police officers after he abducted James Siame whom he accused of stealing his tent and money, he was apprehended and detained at Kasanda police station but has been released on police bond.
Sources at police central province headquarters told the Zambian Watchdog that an unlicensed fire arm was also recovered during the search but that senior PF members are trying to block the prosecution of Kolala who belongs to the team led by Mayor Moses Mwansa which has been illegally selling land in the town and have been behind the dismissal of senior officers at the council who stand opposed to their illegalities.
Kolala becomes the third councilor in the PF dominated rogue council to face arrest over criminal activities after Mayor Mwansa and Kalonga ward councilor Jimmy Cox Phiri were arrested last year for illegal land dealing. Their arrests sparked confusion at the council leading to the dismissal of Director of planning Verenacio Tembo and Town clerk Mukamambo Mbaimbai while other senior officers were transferred. Police however stopped the prosecution after Mwansa asked for the protection of ailing dictator Michael Sata.
