PF deputy minister arrested for pretending to be a qualified accountant

Minister Steven Masumba

Local Government Deputy Minister Steven Masumba has been arrested for  masquerading as a qualified accountant when in fact he is just a mere grade 12 failure.

Musumba is former ruling party MMD MP for Mufumbwe but in another act of trickery disobeyed his party and joined the PF regime in November 2011, two months after the general elections.

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Spokesperson Timothy Moono disclosed Monday afternoon that Masumba has arrested for forgery but has since been released on police bond and will appear in court Tuesday.

Masumba is accused of pretending to have the qualifications of Accounts Technician Diploma from the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) when in fact not.

With the forged document, Masumba  gained peculiar advantage by false pretences  when he between December 1, 2005 and August, 2008   dishonestly obtained employment as an accounting officer at the Lusaka Business Technical College.

Masumba is in the process of formally joining PF after ditching his party the MMD.
