PF directs police to arrest people like Chitimukulu

PF government has directed law enforcement agencies to arrest anyone masquerading as a chief in an apparent reference to newly appointed Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people of Northern province.
Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkandu Luo told a media briefing that only chiefs that have been recognised by government will be allowed to operate.
“I’m warning their royal highnesses that it was only the Head of State who enjoyed immunity from prosecution and that any other person including chiefs risk being arrested and prosecuted for impersonation.
“I’m therefore directing that a proper succession procedure in the appointment of Chitimukulu be followed where my Ministry will be represented for anyone to be recognised by government,” Luo Said.
There has been an impasse between president Michael Charles Mwango Chilufya Katongo Sata on the appointment of Chief Chitimukulu that even led to former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) resign his position.
Mr. Sata, who claims to be Bisa from Mpika wants Nkandu’s Luo’s brother Chief Chewe, a Bisa to be appointed the new Chitimukulu.
But the Bemba Royal Establishment have followed all the traditional rituals and appointed Henry Kanyanta Sosala and the new Chitimukulu.
