The Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) campaign manager for the Mansa parliamentary by-elections Mwansa Mbulakulima has accused the ruling Patriotic Front of breaching the Electoral Code of Conduct and has since asked the Electoral Commission of Zambia to act promptly.
Mr. Mbulakulima has told the Zambian Watchdog that the ruling PF through Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili has been issuing cheques to various youths clubs in Mansa constituency whilst campaigns are taking place.
“We are not cry babies but we would like to put it on record that the PF is openly breaching the Electoral Code of Conduct. They have sent their Minister of youth and sports Chishimba Kambwili to distribute money to youths clubs in Mansa. Why are they doing it now” Mr. Mbulakulima asked.
He said for doubting Thomases, all they need to do is get today’s Post Newspaper (Sunday post 03/11/13) and see a picture of Kambwili donating money in Mansa.
“You know these PF guys are very dull, they go to breach the Electoral Code of Conduct in full view of the public because they carry reporters with them. What other evidence does the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) need?’ Mbulakulima asked.
Meanwhile Mr. Mbulakulima has rated the MMD’s chances of scooping the Mansa seat as high.
“Despite the PF breaching the Electoral Code of Conduct we are confident of scooping the Mansa seat. The battle is between MMD and PF” he said.
