Barely a month after former Kabwe deputy Mayor Saidi Chibwana led over 1,000 PF members to join UPND, the ruling party has continued to suffer defections as people have lost confidence in Lungu and the two PF MPs James Kapyanga and Sydney Mushanga.
During a series of meetings last week and addressed by former PF Bwacha constituency chairman Chibwana, who is now UPND constituency vice chairman for politics, people of Kabwe said PF has rejected them through failure to reopen Mulungushi textiles and now the plan to shift the Zambia Prisons head office to Lusaka. Chibwana addressed mobilisation meetings in Kawama, Makululu and Chinyanja wards where a total of 550 people from MMD and PF joined the UPND.
Meanwhile, Bwacha constituency PF parliamentarian and Education deputy minister Sydney Mushanga has diverted K49,375.82 from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to rehabilitate an old municipal council beer hall which PF want to use as a meeting hall.
According to records from the Kabwe municipal council, Ngwee tavern in Chimanimani ward has been allocated the said amount and a PF contractor will soon be given the contract to share the spoils. While Mushanga is rehabilitating the beer hall, schools and roads in his constituency remain unattended to as shown in the pictures.
