PF government forces FM station to drop broadcast

Three FM stations were forced not to broadcast a show  from Crossfire Blog Radio, a UK Zambian internet station, which had the South African journalist Louise Redvers due on the programme as a guest.
The stations, including Zambezi FM in Livingstone and others were threatened by the PF government and the programme was cancelled.
Louise Redvers recently published an article in the Mail & Guardian, an important South African newspaper, which was critical about the descent of democracy in Zambia under the Sata Government –  it can be seen here
The following  tweet was sent to people who wanted to listen to the programme:

Tonight’s @ThisIsCrossFire Radio show cancelled due to ongoing political tensions in #Zambia & pressures on partner FM stations in#Zambia.

‘Opposition leaders arrested, youth meetings banned, political rallies blocked by riot police, allegations of judicial interference and ministerial corruption, smear campaigns in government media and threats and lawsuits against journalists are not part of the image most people have of Zambia, supposedly one of Africa’s most peaceful democracies,’ is the introduction to the article which can be read n full here
