PF govt asks media to help them cover golden Jubilee celebrations

After blocking the media from covering ailing President Michael Sata, the Patriotic Front (PF) government is asking the same journalists to help them cover the golden jubilee independence celebrations.
The government organised a one day workshop on Monday for both private and public media houses and appealed to them to enhance their coverage of the event in two weeks time.
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Permanent Secretary Bert Mushala said the media was key in giving information to the public.
“You have a unique role to play in giving information to the public,” Mushala said.
With ailing President Sata expected to preside over the celebrations, it is not clear whether the media will be given free range to cover the event which may be attended by foreign heads of state and representatives.
