PF govt orders closure of bars on 18th October-all entertainment banned

zambiaIn an attempt to force people to attend President Lungu’s prayer and fasting programme, the government has directed that all bars and public places of entertainment should be closed and remain closed during the period of repentance, fasting and prayers slated for October 18, 2015.

But it is not clear if president Edgar Lungu himself will adhere to this ban.

Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has announced that all forms of entertainment nature shall be suspended during this period.

Dr. Msiska has called Zambians to spend time in prayer and fasting at their places of worship from 06 to 18 hours.

He appealed to pastors to lead their congregations in prayer for the nation.

Dr. Msiska claimed that the move is in response to numerous requests by ordinary citizens and the Clergy in view of the present condition of the country.

This is contained in a statement released to the PF controlled ZNBC news by Dr. Msiska in Lusaka.

It means all football matches that were scheduled for 18th October will be rescheduled but it is not clear if the PF police will be patrolling to ensure everybody goes to pray.

On Wednesday State House Press Aid Amos Chanda had said that government was not going to force people to join the prayers because it was a matter of personal conviction.
