PF govt says there is no reason for Mutembo Nchito to quit

Government says there is no proper reason to call for the resignation of the Director of Public Prosecutions Mutembo Nchito.

Deputy Justice Minister Elfridah Kansembe says the DPP, who is appointed by the president, can only be removed on the basis of misconduct.

Speaking in an interview with QFM, Ms. Kasembe says government has not seen any reason to relieve Mr. Nchito of his duties as DPP.

There have been growing calls from stakeholders, mainly opposition political parties for the immediate resignation of the DPP to pave way for further investigations into the unpaid Development Bank of Zambia loan which the defunct Zambian Airways acquired.

Mr Nchito was one of the Directors of the defunct airline. The loan is K14 billion plus interest. DBZ is run on public money.
