The PF MP for Mangango Rogers Lyambai Lingweshi is still missing from his constituency almost one month after being elected, according to sources from his Mangango village.
Lingweshi was dubiously elected after PF give voters free cheap ZTE cell phones, cash, and other gifts as well as threatening the voting refuge population with deportations.
Soon after winning, Lingweshi, in his 90s was immediately whisked away to Lusaka from the very people that ‘elected’ him by Matero MP Miles Sampa.
He is believed to be receiving some town mannerisms and still being polished at some hotel while his poor voters in the constituency are looking for him thinking PF can continue giving them free food and gifts.
One of the family members said they are now getting concerned with the whereabouts of the old man, who has been missing since ‘winning’ elections.
“You know he is an old man. We don’t know where he is hiding and has neglected not only his family, but the whole constituency. We were told he would start working immediately after winning, but we didn’t know he would runaway in that manner. As a family, we are ashamed that him and his PF party can’t even come back to thank voters after winning,” said one family source.
Mangango was characterized by violence, intimidation and open vote buying perpetuated by the ruling PF commanded by now disgraced former Secretary General and Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba and his Sudanese trained PF militia.
Coincidentally, there has been some degree of peaceful atmosphere in the current round of by-elections since Kabimba withdrew his militias from campaigns soon after being dismissed.
