Sydney Mushanga and Davies Chisopa, the PF parliamentary candidates for Bwacha and Luano respectively yesterday got into a near punch up at the Boma hall in Kabwe during a meeting for all PF candidates in central province.
Sensing an eminent loss in Bwacha constituency, Mushanga who is also higher education deputy minister accused central province minister Chisopa of being greedy by diverting most projects to his Luano constituency while depriving others.
“He accused Chisopa that he had diverted some health posts projects meant for Mushanga to Luano there by making it hard for him. He also charged that Chisopa was responsible for the late opening of Makululu secondary school which was supposed to be used as a campaign tool and that he was ungrateful because he (Mushanga) campaigned for him in the fake by election which he won and referred to him as umwana wa mubucende (bastard), a term used on PF MPs who came through dubious by elections,” said a source who attended the meeting.
At that point Chisopa is said to have been annoyed and charged towards the diminutive Mushanga but they were quickly separated. The exchange of bitter words continued, with Chisopa saying that he regretted having influenced the adoption of Mushanga because initially the party didn’t want him and his Kabwe central counterpart James Kapyanga readopted. Kapyanga has since been replaced by Tutwa Ngulube.
