The Ndola Magistrates Court has committed Chifubu Member of Parliament Frank Ng’ambi to the high court for trial in a case he is accused trying to murder his wife by beating her up with fists and iron bars.
The case has been referred to the High court because it is more serious than the common assault of beating up someone. The magistrate can handle common assault but this one require the high court which has more powers to send the assailant to jail for many years.
Earlier, the case was withdrawn from Court under suspicious circumstances but the PF was rearrested after running away from the police.
The charge statement now reads: ‘it is alleged that on June 7 this year, You Frank Ng’ambi with intent to maim, disfigure or disable did cause grievous harm to your wife, Agnes Ng’ambi’.
