Mandevu MP Jean Kapata and her Munali counterpart, Mumbi Phiri were by 12 hours Saturday still detained at Lusaka Central Police station.
PF spokesperson Given Lubinda said the two MPs had not even been formally charged.
Police rarely release people on bond on the Weekend. Police spokesperson Bonnie Kapeso said the two MPs and five other motorists who were arrested for honking on Friday will appear in court next week.
The two MPs are said to have been found honking near Manda Hill shopping centre on Friday following the resolution by 18 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to do so in protest against former President Frederick Chiluba’s acquittal.
They are likely to be charged with the offense of conduct breaching public peace.
Mr Kapeso said the motor vehicles belonging to the suspects were impounded by the police.
