Fearing the worst, the PF police have let the UPND proceed with their rally on Sunday.
Police had rejected a notification from the UPND to hold a public rally this weekend saying the party is violent and could endanger the public and the police.
The UPND in response said ‘crap’ we are going ahead and even threatened to beat up police officers if they dare interrupt their right to assemble.
UPND deputy secretary general Kuchunga Edwin Simusamba announced Friday afternoon that the police have finally agreed to follow the law allowing the rally to proceed.’
‘On behalf of the United Party for National Development (UPND), I would like to inform members of the general public that the planned rally in Kabwata will go ahead this Sunday 27th January 2013, starting at 12:00hrs at Kabwata Basic School grounds.
This follows various consultations between the UPND and the government. The Police has finally agreed to follow the law by allowing the rally to proceed.
See you there! Zambia forward!
