The ruling Patriotic Front has launched another website where it says it will be sharing milestones they have achieved since being elected.
The new website is at www.pf.org.zm
The welcome message from party president Michael Sata contains nothing serious apart from the same empty song we have been hearing. He talks about fighting corruption and Daily Mail Times of Zambia and ZNBC being from free government control.
Below is the message posted on behalf of Sata:
We welcome you back to the Patriotic Front (PF) website. It has been a busy one year since we victoriously formed government in September of 2011.
Immediately after winning the elections, we set out to clean the mess the country had been in for 20 years, and there are no illusions about the huge amount of work, effort and determination needed to bring Zambia back on the right track.
For us in the PF, winning the elections was just the first milestone of the revolution to transform Zambia and build a prosperous future for posterity. We treated, and still treat, our election victory as a means through which we could have space to embark on an ambitious agenda to inspire our beloved nation to embrace values of love, compassion, unity, hard work, integrity, honesty, and selfless service. Values that will manifest in a people united in diversity and equality, and ricochet into national prosperity.
While we have made huge strides in the one year of being in office, we also know that there is a lot of hard work ahead but with the support of all Zambians, united across their diversity, we shall overcome our challenges and achieve our goals for the collective good of all of us.
So far we have set a decisive tone to combat corruption by ensuring that we reinstate the Abuse of Office clause in the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Act. This has strengthened the laws dealing with corruption by public offices by setting the spotlight on many of the conduits through which public resources have been abused in the past.
The process to write a new constitution through a broad citizen participatory process started immediately PF formed government.
In the one year of the PF government, the media has been operating without political interference. The PF has gone the extra mile to promote editorial independence and integrity in the public media, which previously broadcast and published at the behest of the party in government. This turnaround has allowed our people access to a widened space for realising and enjoying their freedom of expression and increased access to useful, credible and unbiased information to make informed decisions.
Other developments, in line with our campaign pledges prior to being elected, include the upward revision of the minimum wage in certain sectors of our labour force, and the increase in the exemption threshold for Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax. This is, but just the first step in putting more money in our people’s pockets as we promised.
There are many more positive developments that have taken root, which we shall be sharing with you on this and many other platforms as we continue to turn Zambia around. Equally there are many more programmes we have embarked on to create jobs, accelerate economic growth, reduce poverty and address a myriad of other challenges facing our nation.
We welcome you to this revitalised website of the Patriotic Front!
His Excellency Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata
President of the Patriotic Front and the Republic of Zambia
