PF secretary General Davis Chama has been accused of pocketing K40, 000 he got from some businessmen of Asian origin in Chipata.
Chama was in Eastern province last week but spent most of the time trying to ‘squeeze’ money from the Asian community there.
Chama is said to have collected a lot of money but what has been confirmed is that he received K40, 000 from the family that run Kavulamungu business.
According to PF insiders, Chama sent an ex-convict but now PF interim committee provincial secretary Eddie Kapalu to collect money from Indian owned businesses.
The businessmen were threatened and made to produce the money despite complaining hat they were having difficulties raising the money due to lack of business arsing from the general bad economy.
Chama was seeing waiting for the cash from the Kavulamungu family at Total filling station on Saturday afternoon. But PF sources complained that after getting the money, Chama used it for personal issues instead of party activities.
During the trip, Chama was heard complaining that his trip to Eastern province was not funded because Wynter Kabimba left the party broke. He said the party depended on well-wishers. But PF sources say the so-called well-wishers are road contractors and Asian businessmen who are forced to make contributions to the party.
‘Road contractors were ‘donating’ through Willie Nsanda but he was only forwarding a small portion to the party that is why he was found with bricks of dollars in his house when he died, said a source.
