The PF government has shut the University of Zambia and Copperbelt Universities after it failed to pay them allowances, battered and arrested dozens of students.
Michael Kaingu, the MMD MP who also serves as PF minister of higher education referred to students as thugs before ordering police to kick out students by midnight.
‘Due to the lack of a conducive environment for learning at the two public universities, it has been decided that the two universities close indefinitely. All students are expected to leave the two main campuses, namely CBU and UNZA by midnight tonight,’ Kaingu the MMD minister said.
Kaingu also attempted to accuse the students of being paid by the opposition, an accusation that does not even make sense.
But then, if the opposition can influence thousands of students, then it means the ruling party has no support.
