The Patriotic Front has grabbed the Mporokoso parlianmentary seat from the ruling MMD.
Returning Officer Felix Kaluba declared PF candidate Maynard Misapa the winner at about 09:00hrs Friday morning with 2,844 votes trailed by MMD’s Dominic Musonda with 2,217 votes.
National Restoration Party candidate Joyce Mukando came a distant third place with 435 votes, with UNIP candidate Anthony Nkonde coming last with a paltry 71 votes.
Votes counted by 03 hours local time Friday morning showed that PF candidate Maynard Misapa was leading by about 600 votes.
Misapa had 2793 votes while MMD candidate Dominic Musonda had polled 2165.
Only ballots from two polling centres were remaining. But the ballots from the two remaining centres were not expected to change the overall result. The two remaining centres Kabange and Nsunge had a total of 273 registered voters.
National Restoration Party’s Joyce Mukendo and UNIP’s Anthony Nkonde were trailing far behind.
