PF thugs sent by president Michael Sata and Justice minister Wynter Kabimba Thursday physically attacked (UPND) supporters who were peacefully demonstrating against the selfish allocation of billion of Kwacha to build Sata’ retirement house.
UPND supporters led by party secretary general Winstone Chibwe were at Parliament to present a petition meant to stop the allocation of K1.4 billion to Zambia’s fifth President’s retirement home.
The PF cadres ferried in minibuses and stinking chibuku suddenly appeared on the scene started throwing stones at UPND cadres forcing journalists and security personnel at the Parliament gates to run for safety.
The police later said they arrested 18 PF cadres thugs but could not, for fear of losing jobs, not say they were PF members.
The thugs were immediately released but president Michaedl Sata’s granddaughter and Lusaka Police Chief, Joyce Kasosa said that the 18 had been detained and were being screened to ascertain who were involved in the unruly behaviour.
“We have apprehended 18 people during the confusion at Parliament, though we have not charged them yet as we are still screening them,” Ms Kasosa said.
But the UPND later proceeded to hand the petition to UPND Kabompo West Member of Parliament (MP), Lufuma Ambrose.
