PF thugs attempt to disrupt ABZ filing of nomination in Kabwe

The filing in of nomination papers for the vacant Highridge ward by election in Kabwe central constituency has began with ABZ’s Richard Chewe Chama but while the ABZ candidate was filing, PF thugs led by Bwacha constituency chairman Saidi Chaibwana arrived at the civic centre in an effort to disturb the process.

Chibwana, driving a white unregistered bus which was used to ferry PF thugs who robbed and attacked freelance journalist Wilson Pondamali early this year was shortly afterwards joined by two named officials from the Kabwe district executive committee.

However, alert policemen kept vigilantly watching Chibwana’s movements and later he abandoned the evil exercise. His thugs were left at a hidden place drinking Chibuku while Chibwana came back and mingled with Kabwe Mayor Richard Bango and PF Bwacha MP Sydney Mushanga. Later Kabwe district commissioner Patrick Chishala also joined the group.

PF have adopted a former Zambia Railways employee and bar operator Monica Mwale, but her chances of winning the election are slim owing to the under development of Kabwe and the party’s internal squabbles.

Mwale was escorted by provincial chairperson Benson Chali,James Kapyanga and Sydney Mushanga the two embattled PF MPs for Kabwe central and Bwacha constituencies respectively, as thugs in Chibwana’s bus stormed the nomination centre at the civic centre.

Other parties whose candidates successfully filed were UPND, UNIP and MMD.
