PF thugs hired by President Edgar Lungu to run the youth empowerment programme under the Public Passengers Drivers Association of Zambia have continued to divert all revenue from the buses to their personal use.
Sources close to the project have told the Watchdog that there is no proper record keeping of sales from tickets. The money is said to be shared right there and then with some remainder going to their masters in government.
The buses which were acquired on a government contracted loan are also said to have rude and dishonest crew. A passenger who recently travelled on the bus to Petauke said that in spite of paying K170 the bus didn’t reach the station. He told the Watchdog that the passengers on the bus were roughed up as they were meant to pay for almost every bag they had regardless of the size.
“But honestly how can one travel from Lusaka to Petauke without a bag as if he’s just within the same town? There must be a minimum type of luggage that passengers must be allowed to carry and anything beyond that is what can be chargeable,” said the irate traveller.
The traveller also complained about the behaviour of the crew just dropping the passengers at the turnoff in stead of the designated station in town.
Currently, UPP president Saviour Chishimba has reported ministers Stephen Kampyongo and Moses Mawere to the Anti Corruption Commission concerning the PPDAZ project. Kampyongo is the PF national youth chairperson who has been identifying the looters while Mawere is the youth minister.
