MANSA’S Tuta FM says the PF risks losing the presidential election for continuing to tolerate the violent behaviour of its cadres towards journalists.
And Mansa Central member of parliament Dr Chitalu Chilufya on Sunday apologised to Tuta FM for the PF cadres’ harassment of the private station’s journalist, Chipo Tembo.
On Saturday, Tembo was harassed and nearly beaten by PF cadres at Mansa airport, where he had gone to cover party presidential candidate Edgar Lungu.
The incident happened after Tembo was accused of working for the Zambian Watchdog, an online publication, and being a sympathiser of the UPND.
Tembo narrated that while at the airport, PF cadres approached him and demanded his identity card before harassing him.
“They (cadres) were receiving Edgar Lungu at the airport. And then they started accusing me of working for the Zambian Watchdog. They also accused me of being a UPND supporter. Those were the only reasons I was humiliated and harassed,” he said.
Tembo said he was able to identify the cadres who attacked him and had pictures of them which he took with his cell phone during the incident.
“I can identify the cadres. They were from Bahati and Mansa Central constituencies,” said Tembo.
