The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Chirundu district has resolved to order the Zambia Revenue Authority to fund its victory celebrations over moving Chirundu from Southern province.
The PF leadership in the district with full blessing of provincial minister Miles Sampa also resolved to order the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) in the area to slaughter five buffalos and some Lechwes for them to eat during the celebrations.
The secret meeting was convened at Mubanga Lodge on Thursday February 23rd, 2012.
The meeting was attended by PF officials in Chirundu lead by Brian Chapu and Brave Mweetwa.
The meeting was chaired by a teacher from Chirundu High school Amin Makuba who was recently appointed by Miles Sampa as a chairperson for Chirundu district celebration.
The celebrations, conceived by Miles Sampa to mark his victory on moving Chirundu and Itezhi Tezhi from Southern province will take place early next month.
Meanwhile, the Watchdog has been informed that local people are mobilising themselves to disrupt these celebrations which they view as a mockery and insult to indigenous people.
The Watchdog also understands that the celebrations will be held under heavy police presence.
