PF youths question ACC over Kambwili corruption

By Mwape Mbwelela

PF youths in Lusaka have demanded that the Anti-Corruption Commission releases a report on its investigations into alleged corruption by Chishimba Kambwili.

The youths who sought anonymity wondered why the ACC had taken long to avail their findings five months after Kambwili, the Roan PF member of parliament, was fired as information minister for suspected corruption.

In a statement made available to The Mast, the youths implored NGOs, churches, Law Association of Zambia and all well-meaning Zambians to rise and demand that ACC’s findings on Kambwili were made public.

“While we were happy that the Roan lawmaker was cleared by the party, we should not forget he was unceremoniously hounded out of government on suspicion of being corrupt, a lie that up to now people talk about and question,” according to the youths.

“We are now petitioning his excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu through the relevant agency, the ACC, to tell us the findings of the now academic investigation.”

The youths said a corruption tag on “a respectable man like Kambwili” was grave.

“Needless to mention that the so much talked about clearance within the party is devoid of value if the ACC does not publicise the findings of their now stale investigations,” stated the youths.

“They have either been ‘closing in’ on Kambwili or their investigations ‘reaching advanced stages’ for some time and it has become mere rhetoric to the ears of Zambians. The quietness from ACC has become deafening while we watch injustices being propagated some individuals to scandalise perceived political threats.”
