This is what Chawama looks like after the weekend rains. We are told the person who represents this place has four ministerial positions yet he can not use his influence to remember people who put him where he is to build them just a simple market. This place had been impassable from Sunday until Tuesday. Its not like Chawama is an illegal settlement; it is a recognised residential area and has been existence from the time Lusaka was founded. The council collects money from this deplorable market, yet it does not even have toilets but serves one of the most populated places in the country. See the photos on the market and how people are selling on top of dirty water.
