Photos of the day: how Zambeef transports meat

This is how Zambeef transports your meat.

The workers obviously step on this uncovered meat with their boots after stepping on shit and urine in these compounds.

“Occasionally, small pieces of rejected meat that do not meet food safety standards may be transported back to our plants for processing into pet food”. Who would believe you if your statement has such a doubtful flavour? Its likely that this meat is sold in townships in Lusaka. Thumbs up to Watchdog for this exposure!

Dear Zambeef, Welcome to Zambia Watchdog.
Slander and lack of responsible journalism is their core ‘strength’. In addition to the false stories, they don’t have a clue how to edit or spell. Just ignore.

The management of Zambeef Products Plc is concerned to see photographs on social media purporting to show unhygienic transportation of meat. This does not depict company transport or distribution procedures.
Zambeef does not transport meat on the beds/floors of its trucks. All meat is distributed on pallets or in hygienic plastic containers.
The company has an advanced food safety system in place that is monitored by statutory authorities that conduct audits on how the company slaughters, distributes, stores and retails its products.
Occasionally, small pieces of rejected meat that do not meet food safety standards may be transported back to our plants for processing into pet food. This could be what is in this picture.
We thank the public for their support and assure them that all our processes are transparent and subject to statutory food safety and public health checks by independent Government agencies.

This is unnecessary slander – where is the worker stepping on meat? The pictures you have shown here show no evidence of reckless behaviour.
