This is Kisasa primary school in the heart of Kalumbila mine in North-western province. Not only don’t these pupils have desks to sit on; they do not have empty space to stand or sit on while attending lessons.
And in the next few months, we shall be celebrating 50 years of black rule?
Imagine for a moment that one of these young ones was your son or daughter? Yet, this place contributes massively to national coffers by way of tax. The owners of the mines in this village externalise profits to go and build modern learning facilities where they come from.
Our own leaders are living in mansions and driving the most expensive and latest vehicles in the world.
Cash equivalent of just one vehicle given to one MP or minister can transform this school and these little ones will have a decent place to learn from.
