At a time the PF government is blaming online publications, particularly the Zambian Watchdog for spreading ‘alarming and false’ information, Defence Minister, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) has continued with his alarming statement that there was a plot to assassinate President Michael Sata.
GBM, who is one of the people currently campaigning to replace President Sata, told his friends at the Post newspaper that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema should not think that matter in which some opposition leaders had been working with retired army generals to assassinate president Sata, had gone to rest.
The UPND leader, Hichilema on Friday wondered why the police had not arrested Mwamba and Commerce Minister, Bob Sichinga, for alarming the nation.
In a move that was meant to clamp on the opposition, Mwamba announced to the nation in November last year that he had information that retired generals and opposition leaders were plotting to assassinate the president.
Commerce Minister, Bob Sichinga, announced that the MMD government had printed K3.1 trillion fake money and distributed it to the rural areas of Zambia.
But the money story was immediately denied by the Bank of Zambia in a press release and by the Finance Minister, Alexander Chikwanda, in a ministerial statement.
But Mwamba, could not disclose when the incident occurred, said investigations over Sata assassination attempt were still active.
