Police in Northern Province’s Chinsali District have blocked a UPND campaign entourage that arrived in the Province yesterday for Party mobilization.
The team which is led by former deputy speaker but now UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango has among others Former Minister Bernard Mpundu, Deputy SG Kuchunga S Musamba, Mayibn Mubanga, and others.
Police surrounded the Titanic Guest house as early as 06:00 hours where the opposition campaigners spent the night and ordered the UPND mobilisation team to leave the province as per instruction from the higher authorities.
However, the opposition entourage has defied the police orders and have vowed to launch the mobilization exercise in the province without any intimidation saying there is no law that they breached, especially that the meetings are in-door meetings.
The UPND has identified and targeted Northern province as one fertile area for its mobilisation.
The opposition have so far been barred from holding meetings in various parts of the country for party mobilisation ahead of 2016 elections, but the PF especially Wynter Kabimba are campaigning for a presidential by-election.
