The Zambia Police has cancelled the public rally that was scheduled to be addressed by Barotseland activists in Mongu on Friday 2nd October 2015.
And several organisers of the meeting have been arrested and detained at Mongu Central Police after Western Province Police Commissioner Charles Lungu received instructions from Lusaka not to allow the rally.
Lungu had earlier in the week indicated to the organisers that the police had ‘approved’ the rally and called them to pick the ‘permit’ but they were arrested upon arrival at the police.
Those arrested are expected to appear in court on Thursday on a charge yet to be fabricated by the police.
Some youths have however indicated that they will go ahead with the meeting but the police have been ordered to block the meeting at all cost.
