Dear ZW Editor,
My name is Chilumba Emmanuel of Mpika.
I have a brother who is in Police cells at Mpika Police station. He was caught in mob justice.
This morning i took food for him at 08:00hrs.
I handed food to the police officer who in turn pushed the food inside the cells without asking who the food should be given to.
Unknowingly, i asked the police officer to give the food to my brother.
Suddenly, this police officer charged at for asking him to give the food to my brother.
He intimidated me and grabbed me that i was not supposed to ask him and told me that he was going to lock me up.
It created tension at the station until other higher ranking officers came out and intervened in the matter.
MY Questions are: 1. IS IT A CRIME TO VISIT A SUSPECT IN POLICE CELLS?
2. IS IT NOT ALLOWED TO TALK TO A PERSON WHO IS IN POLICE CELLS?
3. HOW ARE WE CITIZENS SUPPOSED TO BE HANDLED BY POLICE OFFICERS WHEN WE VIZIT THEIR OFFICES?
Please educate me….
Am not hiding, my number is 0972773768
