Police looking for losing Mkaika candidate David Phiri for violence

Former Tourism Deputy Minister and Mkaika Member of Parliament David Phiri is being sought by Katete Police for inciting violence.

A Police source has told the Zambian Watchdog that the Zambia police are looking for Mr. Phiri after three people appeared in the Katete Magistrate court for assault.

The source said David Phiri’s elder brother Michael Phiri who was assaulted by Patriotic Front cadres during the Mkaika parliamentary by-elections had reported the matter to the Police and three people have since been arrested.

The three when they appeared in court for assaulting Phiri told the Katete Magistrate court that they were sent by David Phiri to cause violence during the Mkaika by-elections.

The Police then asked for an adjournment and have since come to Lusaka looking for David Phiri.

Meanwhile a source has told the Zambian Watchdog that Mr. David Phiri now popularly known as 9-1 has since left for Katete to try and settle the issue out of court.
