Police pursue HH as North-westerners, Southerners plot to support Barotseland

Police are planning to arrest UPND president Hakainde Hichilema over information that he is organizing people in Southern and Northwestern provinces to demonstrate in support of the restoration of Barotseland.

Intelligence sources have told the Watchdog that people in towns like Livingstone, Choma, Mazabuka, Solwezi and Mwinilunga are expected to hold peaceful demonstrations this long weekend.

The demonstrations which sources say are ‘very likely’ to take place are in support of the restoration of Barotseland which some people say include Southern, Central, parts of Copperbelt and North-western provinces.

The secret service police are said to be trailing Hichilema who is said to be currently at one of his farms outside Lusaka for the holiday.

Today, Friday morning, president Sata ordered the security forces to deal with what he termed people trying to create a state within a state inBarotseland.
