Police Officer shoots Kitwe man

A 20-Year-old man has lost part of his leg after being shot by a Kitwe Police officer who claims to have been using a defective gun.
The PF controlled ZNBC reports that the Police officer of Kitwe’s Nkana East Police Post dumped the boy in the bush after shooting at him in a ZAMTEL patrol van where he was bundled following his arrest for ’breaking’ a nonexistent curfew.
And speaking from his hospital bed at Kitwe Central Hospital Chungu Musonda said he was arrested around 22 hours near the Copperbelt University for ‘breaking a curfew’ (Shishita).
Musonda amid sobs said the Officer shot him after persistently pleading that he be released or dropped home because he had not committed any crime warranting his arrest.
Meanwhile Musonda’s father has appealed to Government to ensure the officer is brought to book.
Mr. Musonda said the Officer was patrolling ZAMTEL installations and wondered how he started arresting members of the public under a self imposed curfew.
And Kitwe District Commissioner Chanda Kabwe says the Police officer will face the wrath of the law if found wanting.
