Luena Member of Parliament (MP) Mulumemui Imenda has disclosed that about 30 girls at Limulunga High School in Mongu were impregnated by police officers who were camped at the school during last year’s January 14, Mongu riots.
Ms. Imenda says reports from the school indicate that the girls were impregnated by the same police officers who were accommodated at the school during the period.
She disclosed this in parliament this morning during the Vice President’s question time.
Ms. Imenda wanted to know whether the Vice President was aware of the development after a commission of inquiry was conducted on the Mongu riots and findings presented to government.
And in response Vice President, Guy Scott said the matter is in the report of the Commission of Inquiry which has not been released to the public.
Dr. Scott said he expect the report of the commission of Inquiry in the Mongu riots to be released in the public domain soon.
Ms. Imenda also wanted to know whether government would release the report to the public.
Hundreds of Police officers were deployed to Mongu last year to maintain law and order during the riots.
