Police officers not paid allowances for PF convention, rally

Police officers who provided security at the tense PF convention at Mulungushi Rock of Authority have not been paid their out of pocket allowances in full, while ‘missing lunch’ allowance for the first rally addressed by acting President Dr. Scott and PF president Edgar Lungu in Kabwe has not been paid.

Some disappointed officers, mostly drawn from central province have told the Watchdog that they were supposed to be paid K3,000 as allowances for five days but were only paid K640 and promised that the difference would be added to their December salaries but that has not been fulfilled.

The officers complained that while some of their colleagues from Lusaka and the Office of the President (OP) were paid all the money in full, they have been subjected to peanuts and suspect that the money must have been abused by the police command. They have appealed to home affairs minister Ngosa Simbyakula and his deputy Stephen Kampyongo, who were both at the general conference to ensure that the money was paid.

Meanwhile, the officers were not paid any ‘missing lunch’ allowance for lining up to provide security at the PF rally addressed by Dr. Scott and Edgar Lungu in Kabwe on Sunday and no explanation has been made by the central division headquarters. Officers get at least K50 for such functions but nothing has been paid.
