Police shoot dead several opposition supporters

image imagePolice in Lusaka have shot dead several opposition supporters who wanted to attend a public rally. The main opposition UPND was scheduled to hold a public rally in a ghetto called Chawana but the government cancelled the rally at the last minute when opposition supporters were already on their way.

The rally was supposed to be address by UPND presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geoffrey Mwamba, and their parliamentary candidate Portipher Tembo.

Some opposition members had vowed to defy the cancellation but the police under orders from president Edgar Lungu fired live bullets at the supporters killing others instantly whole others died at the hospital.
