Police summon UPND chairman after Mindolo residents, Jerabos beat up PF thugs

Police in Kitwe district have summoned UPND Copperbelt provincial chairman Elisha Matambo following an incident where Mindolo residents and some Jerabos teamed up to beat PF thugs who wanted to steal mealie meal meant for the victims of the demolished houses in Mindolo by the heartless PF government.

On Wednesday, PF thugs armed with axes and all sorts of weapons attempted to damage the store room at Nakadoli market where the UPND kept bags of mealie meal and other foodstuffs which the party was distributing to the over 400 families whose homes were demolished last week.

As the PF thugs were on their heartless mission, Mindolo residents, UPND cadres with the help of some Jerabos teamed up to beat them up until the thugs were defeated. The same Jerabos who attempted to assassinate UPND president Hakainde Hichilema during a radio interview at Ndola’s Sun FM radio station turned against the PF thugs, much to their disbelief because they feel the PF has betrayed them over the ‘black mountain’ copper dump site which has been sold to some Chinese national.

Speaking to the Zambian Watchdog, Matambo confirmed being summoned but said if the police were after intimidating him then they would be disappointed. Matambo said the police must not be used to pursue narrow motives of stupid politicians who thought this country belongs to them alone.

Matambo has been asked to report to room 26 at Kitwe district police headquarters, according to a call out by 2nd CIO a Mr. Mwamba. He said the motive is meant to intimidate him due to the growing popularity of the UPND and PF rejection on the Copperbelt.
