Kalengwa Mine is located in Mufumbwe in the North Western Province of Zambia where Stephen Masumba is Area MP. Stephen Masumba, is well known to be against Kalengwa Mine commencing operations despite the Supreme Court of Zambia ordering so. Having mobilized the likes of D Kafwaya the former Provincial Minister for North Western Province, R Taima a former Deputy Minister in the MMD administration and now clamoring for recognition in the PF and a few other individuals including the Provincial Chairman of PF for North Western Province, Masumba is known to have accosted President Edgar C Lungu to try and convince him that Kalengwa Mine must not be allowed to commence operations because it is owned by Mr. Mulondwe Muzungu who belongs to the opposition UPND. And that allowing Kalengwa Mine to begin operations either in any way will actually empower the opposition with financial muscle to outdo the ruling party in the elections of August 2016. What he failed to tell the President was the fact that he Stephen Masumba is ineffectual and lacks support on the ground in Mufumbwe to win the PF an election. Information on the ground is that it is impossible for Stephen Masumba to win an election in Mufumbwe because people know that he has never stood for them. He currently has no support and is not revered by the people of Mufumbwe. Forcing this man on the people of Mufumbwe will be suicidal for the Ruling Party. The People of Mufumbwe do not want him anymore.
Euro Africa Kalengwa Mine Ltd, the rightful owner of Kalengwa Mine has six Directors who include Senior Chief Chizera of the Kaonde People of North Western Province. The six directors lead the Company on behalf of the people of Mufumbwe. Kalengwa Mine is not owned by Shawi Fawazi and his Lunga Resources as some media sites are still circulating. Shawi Fawazi’s long stay at the Kalengwa Mine was illegal and a product of corruption and conspiracy by some corrupt elements holding public office. The Supreme Court which is the highest Court in Zambia in two rulings the last being in March 2015 ordered Shawi Fawazi and his Lunga Resources to vacate the Kalengwa Mine tenement. Corrupt Shawi Fawazi though, using the might of money, as a tool to corrupt some weak individuals in both the Zambian legal system and some weak corrupt public officers and political maneuverings still pries around fighting and hoping for a turn of his fortunes. He will be the happiest to any illegal scheme or political decision that would break the law over Kalengwa Mine. President Edgar Chagwa Lungu the law keeper will never allow anything that will break the law. It’s a game over for corrupt Shawi Fawazi!!!It is a game over for those wanting to use politics to halt legal business transactions!!!
Kalengwa Mine is also not entirely owned by Mr. Mulondwe Muzungu, as is purportedly amplified. Mr. Muzungu is just one of the six shareholders. Records are there to verify at PACRA. And not every one of the directors belongs to one Political Party but to different political parties. Some of these directors belong to the Ruling Party and have been loyal supporters. It is a democratic society where the right of choice comes to play.
Stephen Masumba’s support for the Ruling Party cannot be entirely relied upon because it is not out of uttermost loyalty and honesty but merely out of fear and personal survival. He fears a break from the Ruling Party will expose him to persecution for his encumbered past. Stephen Masumba, who was imprisoned for falsifying qualifications, owes his release from Prison to the PF. Masumba and his cronies must not draw the Presidency in fighting their personal battles- such as remaining MP’s for personal gain-at the expense of the larger war which is to empower the people of Mufumbwe and indeed Zambia as a whole. Whilst it is his right for Masumba to belong to the party of his choice for whatever reasons, it is wrong to use that right as might to frustrate justice and the rule of law by teaming up with others and peddling lies and behaving crookedly to delay operations of the Kalengwa Mine. The delay by the Kalengwa Mine commencing operations is actually indirectly de-campaigning the Ruling party because the people of Mufumbwe may misconstrue and direct their anger at the ruling Party PF and the President as blocking the operations at Kalengwa Mine. It is this state of affairs that has saddened Senior Chief Chizera who is keen to see the Mine open but who is not keen to see his people’s anger spilled at Government when it is actually a few selfish, corrupt and visionless individuals’ indecent acts that are brewing confusion over Kalengwa Mine. The Chief wants justice and the rule of law to freely flourish in the Kalengwa Mine matter. He prays that the people especially leaders will respect the Courts of the Land.
We the concerned Citizens express our view that people especially those with power or positions of authority must not devise schemes aimed at mutilating justice against their own nationals; they must not use politics to deface legality just to promote their selfish agendas!!!
