Pray against your atrocities, Lungu told

PRAY for yourself and the atrocities you have committed against Zambians, Josephs Akafumba tells President Edgar Lungu.

Akafumba, a prominent lawyer and former justice permanent secretary, says PF cadres should reconsider their affiliation to the ruling party because it has been turned into a murderous grouping serving the interests of a few thieves.

In an interview ahead of the National Day of Prayer, he said the PF leader needs forgiveness from God Almighty.

“We are just humans and God in the Bible says leave vengeance to me, so the best way I can advise President Edgar Lungu is that he needs to cry and pray to God for forgiveness. He needs to beg to be forgiven for all the atrocities he has committed against Zambians. We, being humans, can only turn to the Constitution and seek the law interpretation when we shall seek to look at his performance after 2021. If he needs to face the police and the courts we shall see, but the likelihood that he will are very high,” Akafumba said.

“To him I say repent and stop stealing from poor Zambians. We know that you (President Lungu) have a lot of skeletons stashed out in State House and the law shall exorcise that place and make it clean. You will one day have to tell Zambians as to how you, your family and your aides got so rich in a short spell of time. You will have to tell us how the 48 houses were built and who owns them. You have to tell us as to how the fire tenders cost US$42 million. You will have a lot to explain to the Zambian people.”

He advised Zambians to pray for themselves and not the PF leaders as doing so would be admitting to be accomplices in acts of crime before God.

“If you pray for the well-being of a thief you are simply saying what he does is good before God. So please let’s not ask God to forgive those who steal from us,” Akafumba said. “It’s high time we asked God to use his powers to deal with those that trespass against us. Time has changed and some national prayers or manner in which we engage God must also change. We cannot be asking for freedom of speech, movement, association and ask for respect of human rights when on the other hand we ask God to forgive those who deny us the same basic rights.”

He further advised PF cadres to leave the party while there was still time to be forgiven.

Akafumba said PF was now full of thieves and murderers as seen in Kaoma, and at UNZA where a fourth year young lady Vespers was killed.

“Mathew 7:12 simply says: ‘Whatever you wish that others do to you, do also for them, for this is the law of the prophets.’ In the same book in 15:19-20 it’s reads: ‘For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness and slander. These are what defile a person, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone,’ so I plead with you leave (the PF) now while you are still clean,” said Akafumba.
