In a statement released by his spokesperson Dickson Jere Thursday evening, president Banda also appealed to the Zambian people to remain calm and peaceful as they await the announcement of the 2011 tripartite elections final results by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).
‘The President is disturbed by reports of unruly behavior by people who are taking advantage of the delay in announcement of the results to create anarchy.
‘The Head of State said violence should never be a means of resolving any misunderstanding and urged Zambians to jealously guard the country’s peace which, if lost, would be difficult to regain’, said Jere in a statement.
The President further called upon the police service to bring to book whoever was instigating any violent acts.
