President Banda continues threatening PVT advocates

President Rupiah Banda has maintained that people who will attempt to use the parallel votes tabulation in this year’s general elections will be arrested.
President Banda said the mandate of computing and tabulating results in Zambia is a statutory, exclusive mandate of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
He was speaking at State House when he swore in recycled ECZ chairperson Justice Irene Mambilima. Mambilima takes over from another Supreme court Judge Florence Mumba who was hounded out a few months ago due to corruption.
President Banda said people who will try to use the PVT will be usurping the powers of the ECZ and committing a criminal offence. He said overzelous people should not be allowed to usurp the mandate of the electoral commission.
He directed Justice Mambilima to implement the law fully and make sure no one churns out what he called  ‘unfounded speculation’ of results.
