President Banda frees 473 criminals

Zambian President Rupiah Banda has freed 473 prisoners as part of the commemoration of the country’s 46th anniversary of independence from Britain, the Zambia Daily Mail reported on Monday.

The country’s home affairs minister Mkhondo Lungu confirmed on Sunday that the Zambian leader released 473 prisoners as part of the celebration of the country’s independence, adding that the prisoners were freed from different parts of the country.

The Zambian minister said a gazette notice would be issued on Wednesday and that it will contain the names of all the released prisoners.
