RB cautions chief Nalubamba

PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda has asked senior chief Bright Nalubamba of
Namwala district to tone down and stop public outbursts against
President Banda openly told-off senior Chief Nalubamba in the presence
of journalists and other traditional leader and government officials
at Nakambala house in Mazabuka during a meeting with traditional
leaders and government officials.
“You are a senior Chief but why do you always attack my government
using The Post newspapers? Your Royal highness why can’t you come to
State House if you have any problems in the manner we are running the
affairs of the nation? You criticize government in the media and that
won’t help us at all,” said President Banda.
President Banda pleaded with chief Nalubamba to amicably resolve the
perceived hatred he has for the Head of state especially that the
nation needed his (Nalubamba) input towards national development.
Chief Nalubamba of Namwala district of the Illa people has been
critical over President Banda’s governance system accusing the Head of
state and the MMD government of paving corruption and other corrupt
Chief Nalubamba has in the past called President Banda liar, corrupt,
bad leader and running a corrupt regime.
President Banda who was surprised after seeing Chief Nalubamba in
attendance said it was good to have the royal highness in the meeting
such that the perceived enmity could be addressed.
And during a vote of thanks Chief Mwanachingwala of Mazabuka advised
Nalubamba to tone down and endeavor to iron out issues with the
President than rushing to the media.
Chief Mwanachingwala said it was important for tradition leaders to
support the government of the day than to be with the opposition.
“Senior Chief Nalubamba is my brother and a simple advise to him is
that please learn to support government and if you have questions o
not happy you are always welcome at statehouse to meet the president
and iron out your misgivings than rushing to newspapers because they
will misquote you, they will add even things that you did not say for
them to make money,” said Mwanachingwala.
Senior Chief Nalubamba refused to talk to the media after the meeting
and promised to get back houses after he had digested issues raised by
President Banda in the meeting.
Meanwhile President Banda officially launched the mobile hospital in
Mazabuka yesterday amid a lot of misgivings from the residents.
President Banda warned health workers not to abuse the U$D 53 million
loan health facility but to guard it jealously.
The mobile hospitals consist of seven trucks to make a complete unit.
