RB sends ex-army commander Chisuzi to Namibia as envoy

President Rupiah Banda has sworn in newly appointed Youth, Sport and Child Development Deputy Minister Brian Sikazwe at State House in Lusaka.

President Banda has also sworn in Patriotic Front Member of Parliament for Bahati Constituency Besa Edwin Chimbaka as Luapula Province Minister while Dr Francis Chiguta has been sworn in as Special Assistant to the President at State house.

President Banda has also sworn in Former Zambia Arm Commander General Isaac Chisuzi who has been sworn in as Zambia ‘sHigh Commissioner in Namibia .

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony at State House in Lusaka today, President Banda said he decided to appoint Mr Sikazwe as Sports Deputy Minister because he was a  hard working Member of Parliament who was committed to the development of Zambia.

He said Mr Sikazwe was also one of the committed members of the party and called on him to continue working hard in the new position he had just assumed for the development of the sports fraternity in the country.

And on the appointment of PF Member of Parliament, President Banda called on Mr Chimbaka to work for the unity of the people of Luapula and Zambia at large as well as for the development of the country.

He said he had no doubt that Mr Chimbaka was  going to work well and bring unity in the province as a provincial Minister based on his hard working spirit he possessed.

And Swearing in his Special Assistant at State House, Dr Francis Chiguta, President Banda said Dr Chiguta was a fine intelligent young man who was dedicated to his duties.

He said he was happy with Mr Chiguta’s hard working spirit adding that his swearing took a bit of time but that he was pleased in the manner he discharged his duties even before his swearing.


President Banda also said  he decided to appoint General  Isaac Chisuzi, Former Army Commander as High Commissioner to Namibia for dedicated services he rendered during the sickness and untimely death of late president Dr Levy Patrick  Mwanawasa in 2008.


He said General Chisuzi worked tirelessly to bring orderliness during the demise and funeral of the late head of State and has since called on the former General to bring love between the people of Namibia and Zambia as they are sister nations.

He said Zambia and Namibia were friendly nations who lived as brothers and sisters urging the new High Commissioner to further promote bilateral relations for the benefit of the two countries.


The appointment of Mr Brian Sikazwe follows the firing of Former Sports Deputy Minister Maynard Misapa by President Banda recently.

Mr Misapa has since resigned his positin as MP for Mporokoso Constituency in Luapula Province to join the Patrotic Front (PF).
