President Rupiah Banda arrived in China on Wednesday for a State Visit where he is due to hold bilateral talks with Hu Jintao, President of China.
The President and his delegation arrived at Beijing International Airport aboard a United Arab Emirates (UAE) plane from Dubai. He was met at the airport by Chinese Foreign Minister, Zambia’s new Ambassador to China Joyce Chembe-Musenge, Cabinet Ministers, African Ambassadors accredited to China and other Senior Government Officials.
President Banda is scheduled to hold talks with President Jintao tomorrow, February 25 at the Great Hall of the People (GHP) before attending a State Banquet in his honour to be hosted by his Chinese counterpart. The two Governments are also due to sign various memoranda of understanding in different fields of cooperation after official talks, which have been scheduled for Thursday.
The President and his delegation will also meet Chinese investors and tour some of their projects, including that of the China Nonferrous Metal Industries. President Banda will also appear on CCTV for an interview on Zambia – China Relations.
