For Immediate Release

LUSAKA, November 21, 2010 – His Excellency, Mr. Rupiah Banda, President of the Republic of Zambia, will on Monday leave for Western Province for a day visit where is scheduled to officiate at the colour consecration ceremony for the 4th Battalion of the Zambia Regiment.

The President will travel to Kaoma District on Monday morning where he is expected to officially present colours to Kaoma Barracks, which was established in 1979 but was never presented with its own colours – which is an identity of the regiment. The presentation and consecration parade will take place at the 5ZR Parade Square Grounds in Kaoma.

President Banda, who is also Commander In-Chief of the Armed Forces, will inspect the Guard of Honour to be mounted by the 5th Battalion of the Zambia Regiment. It will be the first time that the 5th Battalion will be mounting a Presidential Guard of Honour after receiving its own colours.

Two weeks ago, President Banda presented colours to Gonda Barracks in Chipata, Eastern Province. The Zambia Army Command thanked President Banda for having presented colours to the 4th Battalion of the Zambia Regiment thirty-years after it was established.

President Banda will be accompanied to Kaoma by Defence Minister Hon. Kalombo Mwansa, MP, Labour Minister Hon. Austin Liato, MP and other Senior Government Officials. He will return to Lusaka after the Parade.
