President Banda who just visited East Africa this week is expected to attend the United Nations General Assembly which is scheduled to convene in New York on September 23.
But South African President Jcob Zuma has already announced that he will not attend the UN assembly to conentrate on domestic issues which he says are more important.
President Banda is facing condemnation at home for his back-to-back trips outside the country.
