Retired teachers demand payment before eviction

Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo has described the refusal by retired teachers to leave government houses at Munali and Kabulonga Secondary Schools as daring government to act.

Mr. Lusambo has urged the retired teachers to take the eviction notices seriously as government does not condone lawlessness.

He adds that government is also in the process of evicting retired civil servants who are still occupying government houses in other provinces.

However, the retired teachers have refused to vacate the houses demanding compensation for maintenance.

Some were paid 20years ago. They are hoping the houses will be sold to them. Though they have no money to even pay the houses. Some have left relatives in govt houses.
